TEMPLE BETH AM

Temple Beth Am is Bayonne’s Reform congregation,
affiliated
with the Union for Reform Judaism.

Reform Judaism is the modern interpretation of our
traditional Jewish heritage. The eternal elements of
Judaism are expressed in a language and form that
is meaningful to the contemporary mind
and spirit.

Ceremonies and services add beauty and dignity to
Jewish life and lead to a fuller appreciation of
Jewish moral, ethical, and religious values.

Membership in Temple Beth Am will unite you
with your People and your heritage. You and your
family will become partners in the growth and life
of our synagogue.

You will share in the joy and satisfaction
of being part of a dynamic center of religious,
educational, cultural, and social activities.

Temple Beth Am is accessible to all as there are no stairs to enter or within the building.

Shabbat services now begin at 10:30 pm on Saturdays instead of Friday evenings.

Following  Saturday 10:30am services during the winter months, we have a Kiddush, the Shabbat morning version of Friday evening's Oneg Shabbat. Please consider providing a Kiddush during the month of February, perhaps in memory of a loved one, in celebration of a family simcha, or perhaps "just because." If you are interested in claiming one of the month's four open Saturday mornings, please contact Adele Swissman, at 201-339-0149, or call the Temple Office at 201-858-2020.

BOOK CLUB
Temple book group will meet on March 21, 2012 at 7:30pm.  THE INVISABLE BRIDGE by Julie Orringer is a very good page turner of a novel which focuses on the life of Andras Levi, a young Hungarian architectural student, and his immediate family in the late 1930’s and early 1940’s as their world is virtually destroyed by the impact of the war and the Nazi March through Europe.   It draws us in to Andras’s life in Paris and his return to Hungary, the degradation of the anti-Jewish laws, the labor camps, all of what one reviewer aptly calls “the monumental tragedy” of the Holocaust.

President Don Miller would like to thank Joan Lazare for her generosity to  Temple Beth Am.

MEMBER NEWS
Best wishes to past president Mona Paul on her relocation to Millington, NJ.
We bid her shalom and L'hitraot!  May she go in peace and may she return in peace...often.  Her Temple family will always be ready to welcome her.

NEW FACE IN THE OFFICE
Temple Beth Am welcomes our new secretary Sandy Thomas.  Sandy replaces Marty Wolfson who is moving on.  Marty thanks everyone for their help over his term of service.

ONEG SHABBATS
Sisterhood member Cynthia Minchello (201-339-5008) will host the Onegs in December. Please contact either if you would like to sponsor an Oneg in that respective month. Space permitting, a full list of Oneg Shabbat contacts will appear each month in the bulletin or call the office at 201-858-2020 for info.
