History

In 1953, a small group of Jewish families began holding meetings to
establish a Reform Jewish congregation in
Bayonne, New Jersey, and
founded Temple Beth Am.

Temple Beth Am was established as Bayonne's liberal Jewish
congregation,
meeting at the Labor Lyceum theater, the First

Presbyterian Church, and the Menorah Lodge, before moving to our

present location on Avenue B in 1955.

We are a caring community, and today we continue the dreams of our
founding families by maintaining our beautiful, barrier-free synagogue.

Membership in Temple Beth Am provides you with a wide array

of worship, life-cycle, educational, cultural, and social activities

and programs.
